Tennessee Republican Rejects Trembling Little Girl’s Request For Help at Town Hall Meeting (Video)

Tennessee Republican State Rep Scott DesJarlais was presiding over a Tea Party town hall meeting in Murfreesboro, Tennessee this past week, and was approached by a Hispanic girl, eleven-year-old Josie Molina.

Josie took the mic and, with a trembling voice, said to DesJarlais, “Mr. DesJarlais, I have papers but my daddy doesn’t, what can you do to make sure he can stay?”

Josie’s father is currently in deportation proceedings and she is undergoing therapy to deal with the anxiety.

DesJarlais thanked her for the question but said, “the answer remains the same. We have laws and we should follow those laws.” The pro-Tea Party, mostly anti-immigration crowd cheered loudly in approval to his response.

DesJarlais, who is a doctor and anti-abortion, has had numerous affairs, including with some of his patients, and once pressured a mistress to have an abortion. But, he says that “God has totally forgiven him” for that.

Good to know, right?

Got to love these family values Republicans and their hypocrisy, and their callous treatment of those who are not like they are.

Watch the video below. DesJarlais is up for re-election in 2014. Please share this wide and far to expose this piece of work for who he really is.

This guy is a total asshole. I was republican…but I was a kind person and voted that way because I felt at the time it was the best party. I do not like either party now. I got sick years ago and the way the republicans treat sick and disabled people is horrible…talk bad about them being on food stamps…and having medicaid…i worked all of my life and used all of my savings first..so I experienced myself the hatred of the poor….I am getting back on my feet but will never forget what I experienced…..I am planning on giving back….People are made because someone buys a bag of chips or eats a steak….so cruel….who knows that mother could have one steak a month you greedy people….anyways…..this is just horrible…this little girl is asking for help…and the insensitive way he said it and the creeps in the audience clapped….Horrible…you people are terrible people.

Patricia, you are exactly the opposite of the jerks who calls themselves Tea Party members. One thing that seems constant in everything they do is a totally lack of empathy for the other guy. It amazes me that people who claim to be following the lead of their messiah, Jesus, exhibit absolutely none of the love and caring he supposedly urged them to exhibit.

A “dick” for providing a courteous and correct answer? Or a “dick” for not providing an answer you agree with?

      • Author Image

He’s a dick because he is a hypocrite and a dick just because he is a scumball. In other words, he is a dick just like all Republicans.

      • Author Image

Hey Job BAGGER I can see that you are a tremendous assbag so I will speak in simple terms. Being a heartless, moronic, hypocrite, cheating, asshat =bad..

THIS US THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
We take care of people here or don’t you fucking get that?
Your kind is so stupid you just blindly follow these clowns.
The only reason that the right is against immigration now and all of a sudden is because they have passed all of the deals that make it cheap for them to move companies to mexico and ship their products back here free of charge.

Now the Mexicans and (others) can stay where they are and work for nothing.

It is mind numbing how stupid you are.

Don’t get me wrong here. Desjarlais is a complete shitbird, but at this particular instance he’s right. There’s a procedure to becoming a legal immigrant. It /needs/ to be followed. There’s nothing wrong with everyone who wants to be in America being there, but if that procedure isn’t followed, it creates all kinds of internal problems.

On the flipside, DesJarlais did not fire a single neuron in the direction of that procedure for that little girl. There are ways to ensure that her father can stay. They’re full of red tape and it’s a long and inconvenient process, but it’s the law. DesJarlais probably doesn’t actually have respect for that law, and neither does his constituency, because if he did he would get her someone that would help her. It’s obvious that he represents a part of the population that is terrified of immigrants because immigrants will take the low-wage jobs that they are limited to due to their comfortability with their own lack of education. If they’d stayed in school, they would be in an income bracket unthreatened by immigration.

      • Author Image

“There is a procedure to become a legal resident” Really?? Can you explain to me what procedure a poor guy with no education from an other country can follow to get a working permit in the USA?

Uschi – He can go to one of the many non-profit organizations that provide free legal help and consultation for immigration and citizenship rights that are located in every state around the country. He could also start by visiting http://www.uscis.com, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website, where there is plenty of free information. He can go to a local library and use the computers and internet there for free. It’s called taking initiative.

There is this tiny little problem one might have that there are nearly 7 BILLION people on planet earth, more than half of whom are produced by and living in the third world and we are a country of 300 million that can not, even as the richest country on earth, provide jobs for our measly 1/5 of the world’s population. Without a tight immigration policy we will be more of a third world country than, thanks to our politics of inequity of the past three decades, we already are.

    • Author Image

I agree with the answer, we do have laws that we need to stick to. But what hurt me was the way the crowd reacted to the answer. . . It was disrespectful to the little girl and her concern for her father. I won’t get into anything else!

  1. Author Image

I dont know how he had affairs with anyone he sure is a homely bastard

  2. Author Image

Is that what Jesus would do, doctor? You do remember Jesus, don’t you? Jesus Christ. The person your fucking church is named after.

  3. Author Image

Scott DesJarlais. The pro-life doctor who
cheated on his wife, got another woman pregnant, and pressured her to terminate her pregnancy. Doesn’t speak well of Tennesseeans that he is still a congressman.

    • Author Image
      Rev.James Allen Kelly DD

I lived in Tennessee for six years please do not compare all Tennesseans by the example of this Republican. I do believe that immigration laws should be followed. But at the same time, I also believe that exceptions should be made. For instance those who have been born in the United States, who do have parents that are illegally living in the United States. A request from a little girl deserved a better response than she received no doubt. I do not want to judge him because the Lord will judge him. But just let me say this; in as much as you have done it to the least of these my brethren; you have done it unto me.

      • Author Image

That’s where you’re wrong, Rev. Kelly. Jeebus has already forgiven the hypocrite doctor for breaking at least two commandments. Didn’t you read that part of the story?

Here it is again — DesJarlais, who is a doctor and anti-abortion, has had numerous affairs, including with some of his patients, and once pressured a mistress to have an abortion. But, he says that “God has totally forgiven him” for that.

That’s the problem with you religious wingnuts. You think God speaks directly to you. Pat Robertson still hasn’t explained how God told him that Mitt Romney would be a two-term President. I didn’t know God could be THAT wrong. Or are lying buttheads such as Robertson and Desjarlais using God’s name to forward their own agendas and become wealthy in the process off the hard-earned dollars of weak-minded individuals? Yeah, that sounds more plausible.

Say a prayer for the liars in church today, reverend. Then say a prayer for yourself, since YOU are the one who votes for these charlatans who are trying to turn our fine nation into the 1950s Soviet Union. Jeebus encouraged man to help his fellow man. The Republican party of today — the party that quotes the Bible so often and freely — knows NOTHING of that concept.

        • Author Image

Jesus forgives but only if you are truly sorry and sin no more. This cold, heartless man is NOT forgiven cause he is the same mean, evil, cold, callous man that cares for no one but himself along with all the other tea party members. We will NOT know if we are forgiven until we die and face our maker who has all our sins written down. God/Jesus does NOT speak to us as those crooked religious money grabbing nuts such as the ones on radio and tv asking for money. That is what they believe in. The money they get is their god and they will answer for it some day.

      • Author Image

I am a through and through Democrat and I totally believe in what you said Rev. Kelly. The heart seems to have gone out of the Republicans who support this man. I just hope this one can heed your words and remember that what he does to others will come back to him 10 fold. Thank you for your very middle of the road comment. Wish there were more like you out there.

      • Author Image

I will judge him, he is a heartless asshole.

      • Author Image

Rev – How much damage can one man in a position of power do during, before, and after his numerous transgressions are “forgiven” by his god? Promoting a regressive Biblical agenda, while living a sinful life is not forgivable in my good book. Yes, you should judge him, not by your words, necessarily, but DEFINITELY by your vote. The most outwardly “devout” fundamentalists are often the most damaged behind closed doors. Ted Haggarty, anyone?

      • Author Image

Hey Rev, since you don’t want to judge him, don’t you think you should also refrain from judging those who break immigration laws? Why do you believe they should be followed? Are we being selective about judging people?

If Jesus were around he’d probably be locked up in a detention center or Guantanamo today because of the caliber of his self-proclaimed followers in America today.

  4. Author Image

Typical Repugnant teabag with his “do as I say but ignore what I do” hypocrotical attitude. This man is no Christian – he is part of Satan’s army.

  5. Author Image

    Mr. Desjarlais,
Obviously we have laws against those things that you have done which are much worse than coming here illegally. You are a dickhead for your answer to this little girl. So, god has forgiven you? That is what you think. You are a disgrace to the human race and soon you your white ass will be a minority. I hope you get treated like you have treated these people all of your life. Hank Nanni and yes, I am white.

  6. Author Image

I’m not sure how this guy’s past affairs and mistakes influence the fact that we do, in fact, have laws. A crying 11 year old shouldn’t affect that either.

  7. Author Image

It isn’t the answer that is the issue here, it is his callous attitude. He could have found a more kind way to say the same thing, there was no call to be rude and cruel to a child.

    • Author Image

Of course there was no call for his hatefulness. The trouble is they enjoy it. Now this poor girl is doubly traumatized after the hateful reaction of the crowd.

    • Author Image

The answer is the issue. When one points out an injustice that is codifed in law, the correct response is not, “We have laws and we should follow those laws.” The correct answer is to word toward changing the laws, which is something that could be easily done in short order if Republicans would stop using immigrants as scapegoats and political wedges.

    • Author Image

      Right! Thank you.

    • Author Image

You should know by now, it’s do as I say, not as I do. We need to vote them out so fast it will make there heads spin!!

    • Author Image

She was a little brown girl. He doesn’t give a crap about little brown girls.
She’s got not money to contribute to his campaign, and she’s hated by the people who vote for him because she is a little brown girl. Therefore, to him she’s less than dirt.

  8. Author Image

Yeah, big brave asshole crushing a little girl looking for help. But you know Karma is a bitch. He is such a law-biding citizen, creep!

  9. Author Image

With a little luck, we can get Tennessee to secede from the US; they must be terribly hard-up to have elected this loser for ANY position. The issues should not be confused; the law is the law. However, in this instance, the law sucks canal water. My point, however, is that no dickwad with the morals of an alley-cat should hold public office.

  10. Author Image

So sad to see such ignorance,it’s no wonder America is so fucked up it can’t see past it’s own nose..

  11. Author Image

    Typical libtard moron responses.

    • Author Image

Typical Teapub response! Come right out swinging from the very start with the name calling and nothing more. No facts, no reasoned argument, just mud slinging and name calling. Next you’ll wait for someone with a short fuse to pop a cork and call you names and when that happens you will accuse him and everyone else on the page of being the ones to start the name calling. I’ve been there, this is the standard tactic, and the only thing that it ever proves is that you guys have NO argument only bile and hatred for anyone who is not a carbon copy of you.

  12. Author Image

He is a puke and doesn’t deserve to hold any office. What a hypocrite and a loser.

  13. Author Image

How does he look his self-righteous ,hypocritical, reprehensible face in the mirror?

  14. Author Image

Well, if people from his district don’t want others to think there’s as big A-Holes as this Congressman, they will vote him out.

  15. Author Image

Guys like him should change their affiliation to Pee Party because they are trying to base this county’s policies on their urination of it.

  16. Author Image

I was born in this city and it makes me sad that azzhats like this represent it. I hope the good people of Murfreesboro vote this vile leech out. I stay in another state(KY.) WITH A VILE LEECH,much like this one. And we are going to do our best to get rid of Mitch.

  17. Author Image

Inviting law breakers into your country and expecting them to behave is contrary to reason and common sense. Granting them the access to your public charity and protections of law is an insult to those who obeyed your laws.

    • Author Image

Laws are made by people and just as they are made, they can be changed, improved or repealed and we we vote for (read “hire”) politicians to do just that: make laws that serve the population. If a law is wrong or needs changing, the lawmakers have to listen to the users (taxpayers) and work on improving it. This little girl asked her legal political representative for help and he hid behind “the Law” which he (and his party) is in a position to better, to benefit the hundred of thousands of people who, for many reasons, fall “outside the box”. Shame on him for his hypocrisy and lack of empathy. And shame on some commenters who cannot see past the end of their party politics…. I wish you to find yourselves forced to leave your homes and try to make your way in another land where, despite your hard work, you will be hounded because you don’t fit ito a category decided upon by people who have never met you and have no idea of your circumstances. Maybe then you will understand how arbitrary and callous immigration laws are. Just because a person comes in illegally, does not mean they are “lawbreakers” or that they cannot behave. Wake up. This is not about the grasshopper taking advantage of the ant.

  18. Author Image

I am not mad at this Congressmen for being honest with this little girl shouldn’t we be honest with children… I am mad at her father for putting her in this position it was his adult decision to break the law for years and put his daughter in this predicament. He should take his entire family with him if he is deported then they will not be broken up, just like other people do when they have to move for work or whatever they take their families or Military members have to leave their families for extended amounts of time. HER FATHER IS A LOUSE FOR DOING THIS TO HIS FAMILY !!!

  19. Author Image

As someone said above… “WHAT A DICK!”

  20. Author Image

HEARTLESS PIG!!! ZERO EMPATHY OR CONCERN FOR THAT LITTLE GIRL’S UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES (AND THRU’ NO FAULT OF HERS, I AM SURE!! IT’S DESPICABLE!! :(

  21. Author Image

Unfortunately, we have a person here who is trying to use the Bible showing God’s forgiveness for past sins. However, he should have read further in the Bible where Jesus tells us that we are all brothers and sisters. He also tells us that whatever you do for the least of My Children you also do for Me. If your child was to ask you for something to drink would you give them vinegar?

  22. Author Image

I sure hope that this thing gets circulated far and wide! People really need to see who they are electing into office should they decide to place ANY Republican in office. Period! Away with all of them!!!!!!

  23. Author Image

    what a heartless asshole

  24. Author Image

I totally agree with the senator. Will we have people using their children to get into this country. They should of came here legally. Enough is enough. The laws are what they are so we don’t have anarchy !

  25. Author Image

You know it only took me a few seconds to realise that the folks responding to this exchange so negatively truely are brain dead. Okay the guy has a less than admirable history. That doesn’t change the message however, we are a country of laws and folks that come here ILLEGALLY have broken the law and need to be treated accordingly. Yes the girl’s situation sucks and if she doesn’t want to be seperated from her father she can go with him, problem solved. Frankly her parents were probably hoping that a bleeding heart bunch of progressives would side with her to try and allow her criminal, yes criminal father as he entered this country ILLEGALLY to be allowed to remain here. Wake the hell up and stop spending money on people we shouldn’t have to in the first place.

  26. Author Image

I actually watched the video as well as read the article. He is not callous in his response. He thanked her, praised her for her for being brave in front of a large crowd but stated the truth that her father broke the law and there is nothing that can be done. Why do illegal immigrants think it is ok to be here illegally and then when caught think they should get special treatment? People scream all the time that we are a country of immigrants, and that is true, but my ancestors (I am only 4th & 5th generation American) came over and did it legally by filling out papers, learning the language of their new country and following the rules. America has not changed, we still have rules, follow them and then we will welcome you. Is this man wrong for his personal actions? Yes, but are they illegal? Immoral, of course, but not illegal and truthfully, to bring his personal actions into play just because you don’t like that he told the truth on another situation is a bit juvenile. Facts about the case of the girl’s father have nothing to do with whether the Congressman had affairs or other misdeeds. If he was guilty of a crime and they had the information he would also be arrested, but seeing as his are only moral crimes not legal ones, maybe we focus on the real criminals and stop letting all these illegals get away with it and feeling bad for them.

  27. Author Image

seems laws and rules apply to everyone else but this moron, and he seems to think only he is entitled to forgiveness…

  28. Author Image

He didn’t “reject” anything or anyone. What he did was provide an answer to her question.

  29. Author Image

I have to agree that he gave a correct answer as far as the legality goes. He might have been a bit more comforting to that little girl. My problem is with the crowd who loved his answer. I wonder whether there were follow up questions from anyone about whether and how he might work to change those laws.

  30. Author Image

I’m with him 100% if you don’t like it go **** yourself. DesJarlais thanked her for the question but said, “the answer remains the same. We have laws and we should follow those laws.”

  31. Author Image

He is a STATE senator and according to the LEFT they dont have the power to or the right to make federal law or usurp it right?

So he had two choices lie to her which you wanted him to do or tell her the truth which he did.

Some on the Left are such freaking hypocrites.

    • Author Image

Please, Carl, explain the “hypocrisy.” We’ll all be waiting with bated breath.

      • Author Image

        Sure Bob

        Not a problem.

As you read in my post this man is a state senator and as such he can not do anything and if he could then those wanting him too would be hypocrites as it has been shown by the Left including obama with SB1070 in Arizona that States are not allow to make immigration policy for they are a state and only the US government can do that.

Thus my comment, it would be hypocritical wouldn’t it?

Now what did you want the STATE senator to say?

Oh that’s terrible let me doing something for him?

What would that be? He has no power whatsoever to effect immigration policy remember?

Did you want him to lie to her and tell her he would do something he could not do?

Should he have lied at the minuman and say I’m sorry I wish there was something he could do? Not everyone agrees with illegal immigration I understand both sides of the issue I live in AZ we have had lots of problem with illegal immigration. I feel for the little girl. But he (here dad) made some bad choices it is a shame that she now has to suffer for his mistakes huh?

But dont parents do that ALL the time in whatever life choices their parents make? If her dad killed someone drunk driving and had to go to jail should the judge let him go because she is seeing someone for anxiety because he is leaving?

Now Bob I told you my reason why they are being hypocrites. Please explain how they are not and what he should have said considering his position as a state senator and he disagrees with illegal immigration?

        Carl

        • Author Image

Why don’t you tr using facts to back up your arguments, Carl? I repeat, where is the hypocrisy? The example you used is non existent. I just went back through thinking I may have missed something but I hadn’t. No one here called on him to change the law. There being no call for a state legislator to usurp Federal powers, where is the hypocrisy? I’ll tell you where, nowhere. The thing that most everyone is upset about his his boorish treatment of a child, there was no need to be so callous, he could have answered her much more gently.

          • Author Image

            Bob
What did you want him to say? What would have been the right answer in your eyes? I think I asked that earlier, I also answered your question in regards to the hypocrisy.

Here is my answer, let me repeat it.

As you read in my post this man is a state senator and as such he can not do anything and if he could then those wanting him too would be hypocrites as it has been shown by the Left including obama with SB1070 in Arizona that States are not allow to make immigration policy for they are a state and only the US government can do that.

Am I wrong here? If so where?

          • Author Image

I know the next step here, you start calling me names and insist that I was the one doing the name calling, that’s just how you guys roll. NO ONE here has said that he should have told her he would try to change the law. NO ONE here has suggested that he could change the law. You keep repeating the same non “evidence” that everyone but you is a hypocrite and you prove nothing because your “evidence” is not there. There is no reason to be a callous boor when responding to this child. Would it be so painful to sympathize with her, tell her gently that there is nothing you can do and that you would like to help but cannot. You don’t simply and coldly say “hey sh*t happens, put on your big girl panties and get over it.” All you are doing, Carl is proving that you are as callous and and crude as the Senator.

          • Author Image

Bob what was so callus in what he said? That she was brave to get up there?

Look your guys HATE for him and republicans is deep. Nothing I say will change your mind so just go on hating and being angry that is what the Left does best.

            later

He is a puke and doesn’t deserve to hold any office. What a hypocrite and a loser.

Did you call him out on this one, how is he a hypocrite Bob?
I could go up through the whole thread and post these but you get the picture.

      (Bob)
“You don’t simply and coldly say “hey sh*t happens, put on your big girl panties and get over it.”

He didn’t say that, did he Bob? And you want him to say something he doesnt believe.

As far as me calling you names or anyone names, not my style even the president I dont call names its obama or president period.

As I believe if you call people names you have lost the argument which as you can tell almost all of those here have lost it, most dont even try to defend they’re point but resorted to name calling.

But you called me names didn’t you Bob?

“All you are doing, Carl is proving that you are as callous and and crude as the Senator”.

By the way I am on Facebook a lot in a couple of forums where most people dont call people names if you would like the links let me know and you can join us for some spirited debate.

      • Author Image

Callous and crude are descriptors, Carl and do not comprise any form of name calling. I have called you nor anyone else any names as I always do and it NEVER fails that sooner or later one of you guys will start calling me names and claim that I started it. Your callous and crude allegation only makes my point for me.

  33. Author Image

Just curious, the article starts out with a young girl, asking this man for help to legalize her illegal father, so explain why her father is not responsible for his own actions and the results his actions visited upon his own family.
