A would-be Senator from Mississippi named Chris McDaniel has found the cause for all the gun violence in the country – hip hop music!
Guess which party McDaniel belongs to…. Take a stab at it… I’ll wait.
Bingo- the GOP.
Bonus points if you said, “Tea Party”.
Let the candidate speak for himself:
“It’s a problem with a culture that values prison more than college, that values rap and destruction of community values more than it does poetry — a culture that can’t stand education, that just can’t get control of itself.”
Because the first thing anyone thought about after Sandy Hook and Aurora, Colorado and Arizona with the Congresswoman and other shootings at colleges and schools too numerous to name: hip hop!.
McDaniel insists that this isn’t a racist perspective.
Right now organizations like the NRA, as well as gun manufacturers, make a great deal of money from the sale of guns and ammo. Ditto for all the private companies that run prisons.
Maybe capitalism plays a role here.
Don’t even start about not valuing education, Mr. McDaniel, when conservatives throughout the land are gutting curriculum, cutting teachers’ wages, and decreasing education spending.
The candidate continued to speak without being racist.
“In New Orleans, when that big flood came with Hurricane Katrina,” he said, “and those guys were out there with big-screen TVs on their backs, they weren’t stealing the TVs because they were in poverty.”
Oh dear. What is the world coming to when the incumbent Senator from Mississippi, Thad Cochran, looks sane by comparison?
