More folks see themselves as liberal than any time since 1992 according to a recent Gallup Poll, the first year that the question was posed to a random sample.
Currently, almost 1 in 4 or 23% of Americans call themselves liberal.
“Liberal” was once a bad word, and still is to many conservatives, and intelligent and politically aware people began calling themselves “progressives.” Or “Liberal-progressives.”
More citizens, 38% identify themselves as conservative, a 2 point drop since just a few years ago.
Last year only 25% of people polled called themselves members of the GOP,the lowest figure in 30 years.
Of course, many so-called liberal issues are the best policies for our government and citizens. Folks may not use the term liberal but they want the best for their children and a clean environment. Among a host of important programs.
The antics of the Tea Party and the war that recently erupted within the Republican party has not helped this group.
Just a word of advice, Tea Party. Parse your candidates better and next time you choose a name for a movement, spend a few seconds and run it through Google.
Do a search on teabagging. Just saying.
